Television show recommendations

I hardly ever watch television but I like to get into shows on Netflix once in awhile, so here are a few I have started and LOVE.

Downton Abbey
Sunday nights on PBS

I know this show is huge right now and is in its second season but I was late getting into it. I finally started the first season on Netflix and loved it right away.
It is about the Grantham household and their house staff during the start of WWI. It is so cool to see how a huge estate was run back then and how the staff all worked. And all the drama is great. They have so many strong characters, which makes it so much better then a lot of other shows out there right now. It also has such a beautiful beginning song. If you have not already started this show do it. I love Mary & Matthew! Anna & Mr. Bates, Ah this is such a good show!

United States of Tara
on Showtime
Mason and I started watching this show awhile back waiting for it to come out on Netflix, all the seasons are now on Netflix instant view.
This show is so good and the cast makes this show so awesome. It is all about Tara who has a multiple personality disorder. She has three different personality's she goes in and out of at first. Theres Buck, the Vietnam vet., Alice the mom from the '50's, and T the rebellious teen. They add more throughout the show and Toni Collette, who plays Tara, is so great at all of them. The show is about how she and her family deal with her disease. It is on Showtime so it has swearing and some sexual stuff in it, but it is such a good well written show. It is written by Diablo Coty who is such a great writer, she also wrote the movie Juno, Steven Spielberg had the idea and got her to write it. So if you are in need of a good, entertaining, quality show to start, start this one.

Felicity
On Netflix instant View

Ok I know this is WAY old but when I saw it on instant view I decided to give it a shot. I would watch this while Mason put Max to bed or while Mason had a show with his band. And sometimes Mason would join me which was really fun cause we would joke around about it cause he knew the ending. I got so addicted. I love Keri Russell. It's like Gossip Girl of the '90's(I have never watched Gossip Girl but my two sisters are obsessed). I fell in love with all the characters and its set in the best city New York! I also loved when I watched it I had no idea who she would choose, Ben, Noel, Ben, Noel...So that made it more fun. So if you are in the mood to start a new(old), dramatic, college days, fun(kinda cheesy) show watch this one.

AHH I love them all

Twin Peaks

Mason and I have recently gotten into an old show called Twin Peaks. We just finished the first season and it draws you in so well. Its quirky and has its flaws but with the great characters, good story, and unique music you look past all the little flaws there are and just accept the quirkiness. I love getting into older shows because you don't have to wait forever for the next season, you can just watch it like one big long movie.

The story is about a teenage girl who gets murdered at the very beginning, so an F.B.I. agent, Agent Cooper (pictured below), comes to the town of Twin Peaks to help solve the murder. It gets so good with all the different characters and finding out who's who. It only went for 2 seasons and then they came out with a movie. So we are just waiting for the second season from Netflix. So if you need a fun, interesting, mystery show; start Twin Peaks.

A cool person

I just had to say how cool Tina Fey is, I know pretty much everyone knows how cool she is but I thought I would remind you.
I was reminded of this when I watched her last night on PBS, she was being awarded the Mark Twain Prize
and the whole show was hilarious. It had so many great comedians on it and Tina Fey was so great. I wish I was as funny as her. 30 Rock is such a great show, it is on its 5th season. I do prefer the older seasons right now but it is still going strong.

This is why I think Tina Fey is cool:
She is one of the most hilarious people
She is a great writer, she wrote great things for SNL and now 30 Rock
She seems like a nice person(I have yet to meet her :)
She is so pretty

You should watch 30 rock, from the first season on.

Now watch the funny clip at the bottom of her on 30 Rock, Her character on the show Liz lemon is trying to get out of jury duty.

New favorite show

Mason and I recently got into Bored to Death. We got the first season through Netflix and we both loved it. I mean come on a show with Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis? And they have so many other great actors on the show, such as Parker Posey( Who I was lucky enough to ring up when I worked as a cashier at Strand Bookstore in NYC! I was so happy.), Ted Danson, Heather Burns, and Olivia Thurlby. It takes place in NYC but mostly in Brooklyn. It is about Jonathan Ames(Jason Schwartzman) who breaks up with his girlfriend(Olivia Thurlby), so he goes onto craigslist to find someone else but chickens out and instead writes an ad to be a private unlicensed detective. SO its goes from there with the different cases and things in between, like dealing with his boss(Ted Danson). And things with his friend Ray(Zach Galifianakis) and Ray's girlfriend(Heather Burns). It is just so fun and has awesome scenery throughout Brooklyn, and of course is funny. Anyway its a great show, it plays on HBO and is in its second season. We just finished the first season and will probably just wait until the second is out on DVD.

It is an HBO show so be warned it has some adult content in it.
