taking a decent photo

These crazy(cute) boys of mine are not the best when it comes to taking a decent picture together. As I am sure goes for most 3 and 1 1/2 year old kids. The other day I tried to get at least one good picture of them both smiling and looking at the camera for their Grandma. I was kidding myself thinking I could actually get one quick. These are less then half of how many I had to take till I got one, ONE, decent smiling picture. But it was fun watching these two with each other and Max trying to help me keep Jack in the frame. And I did get a lot of good pictures in a different way ;).

So my suggestion for getting a good picture of your toddler; Take lot and lots of pictures and you might just get lucky. And bribes, bribes work too.

Potty Training

We started potty training yesterday. Max wore underwear all day and went in the potty 3 times and had 3 accidents, you know to even things out :). Today we are doing a naked/underwear day. All day I am saying to him "three year old's do what?" and he responds "Stop! And go potty!". He is getting so big and although it is going to be so nice to have him out of diapers and able to go to preschool, I am going to miss my little diaper baby.

Birthday Boy

My St. Patrick's baby turned 3 yesterday.
He requested a Pirate party and cake.
I am so in love with him.
We are so lucky to have you my Maximus, my big three year old boy.

Small Fry inspired art project

I was checking Small Fry Blog today and saw this idea for a geometric painting. So when my little Jack was napping, my older boy Max and I did our own painting. I taped up a canvas board I had with painters tape and used acrylic craft paint. I just made sure I covered the painting area with newspaper and got Max down to his diaper, because it stains really easy. Max had fun picking out all the colors and I enjoyed doing something with just me and him. So thanks Small Fry the the great idea!

If you haven't checked out Small Fry yet, do it, they have all kinds of different ideas and fun projects to do with your kids along with the prettiest pictures to go with them.

Family Friday

Last Friday was an awesome day. I got to hang out with my sister Emily who was visiting from San Francisco, then we met up with our brothers to go ice skating. Being Canadian we start 'em young, It was so cute to watch little Max try to skate for the first time. Emily and Ben were sweet and took him around the whole rink holding his hands.  I tried to get Jack to stand on the ice in his little skates but he would have none of it. But it was worth it just to see how tiny skates they have.

In the evening my brothers wife joined us along with my mom. We got The Pie pizza(the best) and hung out playing Apples to Apples, which with my family playing games involves a lot of laughing and joke making. It turned out to be such a fun night with everyone. We don't get together nearly enough.

Our Typical Morning

7:30am
Max always asks to play the iPad or our phones right when he wakes up...We try not to give in but he gets it once in awhile

We put on some cartoons (usually Curious George)

We look out the window to watch the big machines building the road,

8:00am
Max usually chooses waffles for breakfast, with "real" maple syrup, of course :)

9:30am
A snack, and a story by Max

10:00
Max was begging me to find something that was small enough to put in this little Playmobil suitcase. I found smarties or as Max says it "ffmarties".

10:30am
I convince them to go in the basement to play(because all they usually want is cartoons or iPad..)

Jack of course asks to watch a movie, I said no :)

I love watching these two play.

Not many people know this but Batman is actually a very good cook.

And then Max is a pirate.

The End.
